The Cartographer eBook Craig Gaydas Michele Berner Reviews
I was intrigued by how the writer took a seemingly inquisitive teenager, only to find he would be the one to unlock the key of a map. Even though he was faced with not only being surrounded by different aliens and terror, he jumped at the task handed to him. I can't wait to find out what happens to all involved, and whether they stop what is going to happen and how they accomplish this daunting task.
I really enjoyed the book and look forward to reading the sequel (I'm sure there must be one). I enjoyed the characters though I must admit getting a little confused at one point where Kedge and Kale seem to have been interchanged--perhaps it was a mistake? The last sci fi novel I read as a novel (recently I read a short story by JM Northup) was Dune by Frank Herbert. So I have not been a
long term sci fi fan. But this was fun and sometimes exciting, and sometimes very indicative of a young lad's confusion. A very good read and it moves along nicely. Certainly it has the strong content of a complete story with the open ended necessity to read on in the next book. Thanks for your work here Craig. I really did enjoy it.
One day Nathan goes spelunking with his best friend, Sam, the next he’s being offered a job as the new Cartographer for an Explorer’s League from an intergalactic Consortium. This would be any teenage boy’s dream, to travel the galaxies like Captain Kirk, discovering new planets and life-forms. But reality sets in, and now Nathan finds himself at the center of a conspiracy and the only Human able to save the planet Earth.
There are plenty of unique alien creatures, all of which are well-detailed and very believable, and the storyline is intriguing and full of action and adventure. I really enjoyed the story and am interested to see where book two goes. My only complaint is that everyone is either, roaring or bellowing.
If you like space faring tales and young adult books; you’ll enjoy this action-packed adventure. I give it my 5 feathers.
I enjoyed the heros, villains, and aliens. I loved the idea of the map. An intergalactic war story with a twist.
Sort of childish plot line and twists. Lack of character development as well. Can't believe I wasted time reading the whole thing and waiting for it to get better.
This book is an interesting way of presenting an alien invasion. The idea behind capturing a young teenager and taking him far out into space and then coming back to earth is unusual. It is a good beginning to a potentially interesting series.
CG has written a SyFy novel off a young man who enters a cave similar to Carlsbad Caverns. He and a friend are spelunkers, but are very cautious.
During this visit the first young man locates the alien ship and Aliens. He is captured and passes the required test to become the Cartographer. This is an excellent read for the genre..... ER
